Periphery · Immersion · Experience
I spent decades working with sound before I qualified as a hypnotherapist.
As a musician, vocalist, trained sound engineer and performer, I learned early that sound does something to the body that words alone cannot.
A frequency, a hum, a held note, a voice in a particular register - they bypass the thinking mind entirely and land somewhere deeper. I witnessed it in audiences,
in rehearsal rooms, in myself.
When I trained in hypnotherapy, I recognised immediately what I had already known intuitively: that the most profound change happens not when we push harder, but when we soften. Deep inner work.
When we move to the periphery of conscious thought and allow the deeper intelligence of the nervous system to do what it already knows how to do.
I call my approach PIE - Periphery · Immersion · Experience -
because those three words describe exactly what happens in a session.
The Peripheral Vision Technique
Also known as 'soft eyes' or the 'owl eyes' technique, it's a simple but powerful neurological tool rooted in how the eyes and nervous system are directly connected.
How it works
When you soften your gaze and allow your vision to widen( from foveal vision to wide peripheral bird-like vision)-taking in the whole visual field rather than fixing on any one point, your nervous system shifts from sympathetic (fight or flight) to parasympathetic (rest and digest) almost instantly. This is not a metaphor.
It is a direct neurological mechanism.
The Neuroscience Behind It
From that place of softened awareness, I work with sound frequencies, vocal guidance, and carefully constructed language to create an immersive inner environment that is tailored personally for each client.
You sit comfortably and wear headphones. It is a calm and beautiful process.
A session feels like an experience, not just a technique, not a lesson, not a performance. Something you feel in the body, that transforms and stays with you long after it ends.
One hour. Gentle, safe, and deeply restful.
Most people feel profoundly calm afterwards - and many notice shifts within days.
Available online or in person in Brussels, rooted in Ericksonian hypnotherapy, NLP, and over thirty years of professional work with voice, sound, and the body.
You don't need to believe in anything. You don't need to prepare.
You just need to arrive with your imagination and be open to the suggestions.
It is a collaboration.
For those who want to know: yes, this is hypnotherapy.
It is also sound work and a personalised process.
It is also something that doesn't have a single word yet
-which is partly why I created the PIE method.
